Serena Williams Fit-dex: Gotta Find 'em All

What is it?

This is an ongoing effort to catalog every outfit Serena Williams wore at every tournament she participated in: each round, each discipline, each tournament from 1998 to her final match in 2022. The name takes its cue from the Pokédex — a complete compendium with one slot per entry and my obsessive goal of filling every last one. Seeing every look together makes one thing undeniable: no one in tennis has ever dressed like her, and no one does today.

Why I made this?

I have loved Serena since I was four years old. I memorized her life story for my 4th grade "Living Museum" project, saw her play in-person for the first time at 13, and when I gave birth in 2022, Serena's final US Open matches were on in the delivery room.

Being a tennis and fashion lover, I wanted to document every look Serena wore while dominating the sport. Seeing all the looks together is deeply nostalgic for me and provides a consolidated view of one facet of her icon status.
